Grade seven novel project

November 14th, 2006

Here is our grade seven novel project:

Section I:  Choose one of the two.

1.  Create a new book jacket for your novel.  Remember, a book jacket has a front, back and spine.  On the front, you need an appropriate picture, the title, the author.  On the back, you need a brief, original, paragraph or two designed to entice the would-be reader to read the novel.

2.  Draw or design a scene you feel is very important to the plot of the story.  Include a short paragraph telling where it is found in the book (pages) and why you think it is important to the story.  You may choose to draw, paint or create a diorama.

Section II:  Choose one of the two.

3.  Write six journal entries from the main character’s point of view.  These journal entries should take place at different moments during the novel ans should pertain to important events.  Each entry should be two to three paragraphs minimum.  They should be in chronological order.

4.  Write a letter from the main character to a friend who has never heard the story explaining what has happened to you.  Please include ALL important details from the story and tell the story in chronological order.

Section III

5.  Did you enjoy the novel.  Explain.

6.  What is the message this story gives you?

7.  Did the ending surprise you?  Explain why it did or did not.  What were some clues given.
